Enfrex Metalworks recently completed specialist infrastructure metalworks for the new 8 Phillip Street development in Parramatta, a landmark commercial tower designed by Woods Bagot.

The project required the fabrication and installation of substation infrastructure supports, architectural louvre systems, and access components designed to meet strict Endeavour Energy specifications while integrating seamlessly into a high-profile commercial development. Our scope involved multiple stages of fabrication and installation across the building’s electrical infrastructure areas.

Supporting Critical Electrical Infrastructure

Electrical substations are essential to large commercial developments, requiring carefully engineered support systems for cable management, equipment mounting, and safe maintenance access.

For this project, Enfrex fabricated and installed a series of galvanised Unistrut support frames, structural angles and infill chequer plate panels within both high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) pit areas. These systems provide structural support for cabling infrastructure while also creating safe access surfaces for installation and maintenance.

These supports were installed across multiple rooms and included:

  • HV and LV pit wall and floor support systems
  • P1000CI Unistrut framing systems
  • Infill chequer plate panels within pit support structures
  • Plate support angles and cabinet mounting brackets
  • Floor-mounted pulling eyes and cable pulling inserts

These systems ensure secure mounting points for electrical infrastructure while allowing contractors to safely install and maintain high-voltage cabling. All elements were fabricated to comply with Endeavour Energy substation standards, ensuring full compatibility with utility requirements.

Substation Access & Equipment Support

The project also required a range of specialised fabricated components designed to support transformer and switchgear infrastructure within the substation environment. Enfrex supplied and installed:

  • Transformer cabinet support brackets
  • Retrofitted pulling anchors
  • Galvanised structural angle supports
  • Integrated mounting systems for electrical equipment

These components are critical in maintaining structural stability and safe installation tolerances for heavy electrical equipment within confined substation spaces.

Architectural Louvres & Ventilation Systems

Substations require continuous ventilation to manage heat generated by electrical equipment. At 8 Phillip Street, this ventilation was delivered through a series of architectural aluminium louvre systems fabricated by Enfrex. The scope included:

  • Fixed aluminium louvre panels
  • Substation intake louvre systems
  • Transformer room ventilation panels
  • Fan room fixed panels and access doors

Each panel was manufactured from aluminium and finished with durable powder coating. The result is a ventilation system that delivers high airflow performance while integrating cleanly into the building façade.

Access Doors & Maintenance Entry

To ensure safe access for maintenance teams, Enfrex also fabricated and installed a number of specialised louvre access doors, including:

  • Transformer louvre doors
  • Personnel access louvre doors
  • Hardware systems compliant with utility requirements

These doors maintain ventilation performance while providing secure access to substation infrastructure.

Integrated Fabrication & Installation

The project was delivered across multiple stages, with Enfrex providing:

  • Detailed fabrication of all structural metal components
  • Compliance with Endeavour Energy substation specifications
  • Delivery and staged installation
  • Integration with building services contractors onsite

Working alongside the broader project team ensured that infrastructure installations aligned with both architectural intent and electrical engineering requirements.
